Deportation
Deportation review
1. outline
If a foreigner staying in Korea violates the immigration laws of the Republic of Korea or commits a criminal crime, he or she will be subject to deportation review. Considering the foreigner's violation of the law, the Immigration Office will either allow the foreigner to remain in the country or issue a deportation order or departure order.
Therefore, if you have violated immigration laws or are under investigation for a criminal offense in the Republic of Korea, you may be subject to potential deportation proceedings and should consider seeking professional assistance from an attorney.
2. How to respond
Foreigners who are subject to deportation review can continue to stay in Korea by submitting their need to continue residing in Korea to the Immigration Office. In this case, the Immigration Office will decide whether to deport you by considering 1. whether the violation of immigration laws or a criminal offense is serious, and 2. whether there are humanitarian reasons for continuing to reside in the Republic of Korea.
